The Buffalo Bills for the sixth straight time have defeated the Miami Dolphins. Josh Allen showed yet again that he owns the Dolphins franchise, with completing 64% of his passes and throwing for 3 touchdowns (should have had one rushing thanks to a phantom holding call) and completely dominating them like he always does. While the offense did look stale at times in the first half, they bounced back in the second half by going 4/4 on scoring drives in the half. Ray Davis ran hard like always and showed yet again he's the perfect complimentary back to James Cook. Mack Hollins came up clutch with his 4th down touchdown and his 3rd and 9 catch to move the chains to setup the Tyler Bass field goal. I think that's what we want to see out of Hollins, make 1-2 impactful catches a game and play his role well, and today he did and more. Shakir was a wrecking ball again making two-yard passes go for 12. He is such an important part of this offense as he proves it week in and week out.
Defense on the other hand struggled all day long, as per usual they couldn't stop the run. We have all accepted that because the pass defense makes up for it, but today the Bills just couldn't "bend but don't break", they broke.... a lot. Devon Achane had 63 yards rushing with 58 receiving and Mostert had 56 rushing. Tyreek Hill had his best game against Buffalo with 80 yards receiving. Frustrating day for the defense but it had some bright spots like Kaiir Elam played well as Benford's replacement and Rasul Douglas showed why he's one of the best zone corners in football like always. Greg Rousseau showed his usual flash plays. Tough day for the defense but I'm not concerned at all going forward.
Now let's talk about the most important part of this game for so many reasons. THE REBIRTH OF TYLER BASS. 9 seconds left 61 yards out, I wanted the Bills to either play it safe and punt or throw a Hail Mary. I had 0 confidence in Tyler Bass, even though he has looked better in recent weeks. I was jaded by the missed extra point earlier in the game. It was my final straw with him and wanted him gone because I felt he couldn't make important kicks for us. And i was proven so wrong hours later. I'm so happy I was so wrong. Now we are halfway through the season and there is going to be many many many more important kicks to come. But today i have so much Faith in Tyler Bass. That kick didn't just win us this game, it will provide some much confidence in Bass going forward and hopefully this kick rejuvenates him and every kick going forward he can just think of the masterful 61-yard GW kick he made this afternoon instead of the kicks he's missed this season. I feel like this kick will result in us seeing the old Tyler Bass, the Tyler Bass where we aren't worried about him when he's walking up to kick it. Today was the rebirth of Tyler Bass and I can't wait to see how a confident Tyler Bass will help this team going forward.
